On this page, you will find an extensive documentation of former Development Conferences since 2001.
For almost two decades now, the Development Conference has been a special focus of the work of Paulo Freire Center and Mattersburg Circle; in it, much of what is important to us and what we stand for becomes visible: Dedicated research, dialogue between science and practice, reflection on burning issues of development policy, networking of policy fields, political education in the broader sense. This form of reflection has always been perceived by the participants as stimulating and has become one of the largest fixed points in the Austria-wide dialogue on development issues.
The seven development conferences held so far followed on from the three development conferences of the 1990s and dealt with the following topics:
2001 – Salzburg: Die Zukunft der Zivilgesellschaft
2003 – Graz: Globalisierung ist kein Schicksal, Globalisierung wird gemacht
2005 – Linz: Eigentum anders (Solidarökonomie)
2008 – Innsbruck: Wachstum – Umwelt – Entwicklung
2011 – Krems: Gemeinwohl entwickeln. Der Staat zwischen Gemeinschaft und Weltgesellschaft
2014 – Salzburg: umbruch aufbruch.
