Ella Lamakh is an expert on social policy and women’s rights. She heads the Democracy Development Center, an NGO based in Kiev, Ukraine. In her 25-year professional career, she has worked for violence prevention and gender justice, as well as for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325. This Resolution calls on the parties to conflicts in military conflicts to protect women’s rights and to include women equally in peace negotiations, conflict mediation and reconstruction.
From 2005-2009, Ella was Director of the Gender and Families Policy Department of the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth, and Sports. From 2015-2016, she was a research associate at the Woodrow Wilson International Center (Washington D.C., USA).
