The developments caused by Covid-19 changed the professional, private and social-political everyday life of all of us. Without further ado, the „Faire Wochen“ in spring 2020 were adapted for online implementation and webinars for school classes were designed. Global Citizenship Education in the digital age is challenging and at the same time offers potential for networking and new perspectives. The pandemic highlights the need for critical global citizens with digital skills and dimensions of global digital citizenship.
How can sustainable regional development be shaped online? In the workshop, possibilities of off- and online education and campaign work will be shown: Global commodity chains of individual products, such as the smartphone, will be exemplified and make clear how people in different places of the world are connected to each other without ever having exchanged a word. In this workshop, however, the smartphone is not only used as an object of analysis, but also as a useful research tool.
The central element is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The guiding idea is that for a livable future and the reduction of inequalities, everyone must do their part, and on the path to sustainability, all countries and regions still have many steps to take together. To help envision this, local and regional best practices will be presented that lead the way with good ideas and show what is possible.
Procedure and materials:
The workshop is primarily aimed at teachers and regional developers.
The workshop will work with exhibition boards on the „FAIRE WELT“. If participants bring their smartphone, they can use it as a research tool, as there are in-depth materials on each topic that can be accessed using QR codes. In addition, smartphones and IT production itself are also part of the exhibition as examples of global commodity chains.
In the workshop, sustainable region stories of a FAIRTRADE region are told. In the workshop the stories will be continued.
